Gold and platinum literally rained from the sky in Siberia last week when a routine take-off from a Russian airport went very, very badly.

The Nimbus Airlines AN-12 cargo plane was carrying 10 tonnes of gold, platinum and diamonds worth an estimated $ 378 million from the Canadian mining company Kinross Gold. Taking off from Yakutsk airport on March 15, the aircraft opened its hatchback, spilling nearly 200 gold and platinum bars weighing a total of about 3.4 tons.
